Job Market is Delusion in the Age of Modern Tech

Do you know, why some of the most critical jobs in society goes unnoticed in Job market? fancy, flashy careers like managers, AI Engineers, digital marketer blah blah get all attention but the most high valued jobs for humanity like farmer, plumber, electricians , scientist or kernel developer get ignored.

Today, i will explain why modern job market in tech industry is a great delusion. understanding this delusion will help you to make right career decision.

Most Important Jobs, Least Demand

Here is the brutal reality, the most important jobs are least in demand. High value does not mean high demand. Many jobs roles are high value for society but low in demand.

here is an Example:

Kernel Developer is very important job role because without it you can’t build & run any operating system, weather that be windows, mac, android or Linux. it is the kernel developer who writes code in low level which runs on bare metal hardware.

developing kernel for OS is extremely important for our tech ecosystem. now here is my question to you, how many of job roles are available in market for it ? there are very few. how many next gen kids are interested in kernel development ? answer is very few.

Here is another excellent example, a Farmer who is Good & Skilful in agriculture is extremely important, not just to job market but even for humanity to flourish. in fact, in any given time period, weather it be 18th century, 19th, 20th. without a farmer you can’t produce healthy food.

now once again here is my question to you, how many people are interested in farming as career or job ? the answer is very few.

but when it comes to fancy or popular jobs like digital marketing, AI Engineers, content manager etc, there are many jobs available & everyone keep chasing fancy titles jobs & ignore the crucial jobs which runs the world & humanity.

this eventually create problem when economy is in crisis. it’s obvious fancy-popular jobs roles might not have high value to humanity or society hence it leads to mass layoffs & hence you’ll always struggle with jobs.

Lesson to learn here is, choose high value jobs roles or career, don’t choose job/career based on popular job titles, instead figure out what you enjoy to do & what society needs the most and find the job role which fits somewhere in middle of these two.

Tech Is a High-Scaling Industry

Beauty of Tech industry is it is High Scaling industry as we innovate in it.

what do i mean by it is “technology is force multiplier”, with every new innovations, work can be done quicker & faster by few people.

you don’t need team of thousands of engineers to build & maintain a product,

only few handful of good engineers can build & maintain a product which is used by billions of people around the world.

take a look at X, when Elon musk acquired Twitter, he fired 80% of it’s employees and still manage to run & expand twitter without any issue.

the big advantage of tech, is you need few good people in senior level to run tech business.

The disadvantage is you don’t need thousands of employees to run a tech business which means lots of job layoffs.

But on the other hand, the power of scalability in tech industry give you ability to become solo-entrepreneur or build your own small business. So the question is why to chase fancy jobs in tech if they are temporary ?

Lesson here to learn is: Work on crucial job roles which are more important for industry like a kernel developer, ethical hacker etc or simply work in careers/job roles which are crucial for humanity, like a farmer or healthcare worker.

Now let me end with an inspirational note,

do not get married to your career, because world is always changing & evolving, you need to change according to it. keep learning various skills that are rare and sustainable in long run of life and always remember the biggest advantage of today’s tech industry is scalability which means anyone can become self-employee.
